Garage cleanout in Westchester, the local version
Westchester's fifties and sixties ranch houses mostly have a one-car garage attached to the house, not the two-car garage common on newer South Dade lots, and it tends to become the only real storage space a smaller ranch house has: there is no walk-up attic, so whatever does not fit inside ends up in the garage instead. In a house held by the same family for decades, that usually means decades of accumulation, not a few years' worth.
Where a house has a carport instead of an attached garage, the same stuff collects out in the open rather than behind a door: tools, a lawnmower, folding hurricane shutters pulled down after the last storm and never put away, bikes, a decade of holiday decorations. Paint cans, chemicals and batteries are fine to include as long as you tell us in your photos, since those get handled differently than the rest of the load; we do not take hazardous material like asbestos or sealed drums.
If you are an unincorporated Miami-Dade trash customer, which most of Westchester is, you get two free bulky waste pickups a year for a few items put on the swale on the scheduled route. That covers a chair or an old grill; it does not clear a garage or carport floor to ceiling, and the apartment buildings along Bird Road and Coral Way have no garages at all, so clearing one of those units is a different kind of job entirely. Send photos of the whole space, shelves and overhead storage included, and a licensed, insured hauler prices it and loads it. You pay JunkZipp once it is clear, not the crew and not up front.
- Our garage has been the only storage space in the house for decades. Do you need it sorted first?
- No. Send photos of the garage as it sits, shelves and whatever is stacked toward the back included, and a person prices the whole space from that.
- We have a carport, not an enclosed garage. Does that change the job?
- No, it is priced the same way. Tools, shutters and yard gear collect in a carport the same way they would behind a garage door, just out in the open.
- Can I use the county's free bulky pickup instead?
- If you are an unincorporated Miami-Dade trash customer, your two free pickups a year cover a few items on the swale. A full garage or carport floor to ceiling is more than that program is built for.
What we take
- Shelving and storage units
- Boxes and totes
- Old furniture
- Tools and toolboxes
- Bikes and bike racks
- Exercise equipment
- Paint cans and chemicals
- Holiday decorations
- Yard and patio gear
Tell us about paint, chemicals, or batteries in your photos so the crew handles them correctly. We do not take asbestos, sealed drums, ammunition, or other hazardous waste. If your garage has a loft or overhead storage rack, mention it so the price accounts for what is up there, not just floor level.
